AGRICULTURAL MATRIARCHY

Reclaiming our past. Reimagining our future.
“Beside every great woman is another great woman.”- There. We fixed it.

Matriarchs

They are all of us.

Our Vision

We make everyday objects that remind us of the past, celebrating traditional, women’s handicraft, community, and connection to nature.

Our Story

The two of us met over 20 years ago when we lived on the same hall at a tiny liberal arts college in the South. We reconnected years later when we found each other living in Louisville, Kentucky. We were both raising kids close in age and looking for new creative projects.

After many conversations, walks, cups of tea, and a bottle of wine or two, we honed in on our passions: a reclamation of women’s history, handicrafts, and connection to nature, expressed through art and drawings we both love to do. We create whimsical, household objects, apparel, and home decor that remind us of where we come from and where we are going.

Our Founders

Casey George is an educator, researcher, and mom who dabbles in graphic design on the side. She’s still trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up.

Janna Wardle is an artist, mom, and recovering pastry chef. She sometimes gardens.
